Missiles, Presidents, and Wall Drug

We started the day off by leaving Chamberlin. We headed east and stopped just before Vivian. When I was there I could point north towards the capital of South Dakota, Pierre.

We then stopped at a view point and looked at the Badlands to the south. The area to the north I called the Goodlands.

We then continued on to the Minuteman National Historic site. Sadly it was closed becasue it was Sunday, but we to a nearby missile site. These missiles could travel the same distance as planes do flying to European cities, but could do it much faster.

We then stopped at Wall Drug for lunch. After lunch my Dad rode a Jackalope and I road a bucking bronco.

The big attraction that I saw today was Mount Rushmore. When I got there I was excited becasue I got to see another famous American landmark. In the visitors center we saw an exhibit on the whole history of the mountain. We then went to a theater and saw a film that told us about the invidual presidents and how they were carved. We then took the Presidential Trail and took some pictures of those presidents.

When we came back to our RV, the only other there were EXACTLY the same as ours, all heading to Alaska.

Tomorrow we are headed for Devils Tower in Wyoming, then on to North Dakota.
Total Miles Today: 267

  3. What a trip!! Now that we are home we can follow you properly. The only bit of the trip that we've done is the Icefields Parkway and that was spectacular. We've really envious.
